SUNAMI™ INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
READ CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLATION
1) Use a 12V tester with light to locate a 12V positive
ignition wire above the driver side footboard area.
This wire is “Hot” only when the ignition of the
car is in the “ON” position.
2) Connect the red wire from the supplied wire loom to
the 12V positive ignition wire with the supplied blue splice
connector. Next, connect the black wire from the wire loom
to the ground of the vehicle using the supplied, large
hole, red stud ring connector.
3) After connecting the black ground wire, cut the
black ground wire in half and connect the two supplied,
small
hole, red stud ring connectors to the open ends of
the cut ground wire. Next connect the stud rings from
the ground
wire to the screws on the supplied push/pull switch.
It doesn’t matter which wire is connected to which screw
terminal on the push/pull switch. The switch is in OFF
position when it is pushed in and in ON position when the
switch is pulled. This switch is the on/off switch for
the SUNAMI and does not trigger the SUNAMI to make noise.
This switch is only used to turn the SUNAMI on or off.
Make sure the switch is in the “ON” position
if you want the SUNAMI to make the blow off valve
sound.
4) Drill a ½” hole where you would like
the ON/OFF (Pull/Push) switch to be installed and screw
in
the nut on the switch to secure it.
5) Run the two blue wires and the two brown wires from
the wire loom through the firewall and into the engine
compartment.
6) Using the supplied red butt connectors, connect
the brown wires to one of the sirens and install the
siren
under the engine compartment. It doesn’t matter
which brown wire is connected to the red or black
wires of the
siren. Use the supplied blue splice connectors to
connect the wires of the second siren to the two
brown wires or
to the wires of the first siren. Secure the second
siren in a desired position pointing downward. Make
sure not
to screw into wires, hoses, etc. Always check behind
the area you choose to install the sirens. It is
recommended
to install the sirens near the front wheel well of
the vehicle, under the hood, pointing downwards.
7) Connect the supplied red female quick connect connectors
to the blue wires. Connect one of the red quick connects
to the silver tab on the supplied vacuum pressure switch
and the other red quick connect to the gold tab furthest
away from the silver tab. The middle tab on the vacuum
pressure switch will not have a wire connected to it. To
connect the manual override push button, simply use the
supplied red female quick connect connectors to connect
the leads from the push button to the blue wires. You may
cut the yellow wires and use them as extensions if you
want to install the manual override push button further
away from the brain or black box. The yellow wires will
not be used for the installation of the SUNAMI.
8) Locate the vacuum line, which is connected to the
air intake manifold of the engine. This is a 1/4'” black
hose with vacuum pressure inside it. If you are not sure
which hose it is, pull out one end of the assumed hose
from its original connection and feel for vacuum pressure.
Once you find the hose with the vacuum pressure, cut it
where it is not very noticeable and install the supplied “T” connector.
The third nozzle will then connect to the vacuum pressure
switch with the supplied ¼” vacuum hose.
Use one of the supplied Zip-ties to secure the vacuum
pressure
switch to a near by hose or secure object.
9) You may use an Allen wrench to adjust the sensitivity
of the vacuum pressure switch. The setscrew is located
inside the nozzle of the vacuum pressure switch. The more
you tighten the setscrew, the lower the RPM will need to
be to trigger the SUNAMI. Adversely, the SUNAMI will trigger
at a higher RPM if the setscrew is loosened or turned counter
clockwise. The vacuum pressure switch should be adjusted
to your liking. At first the response of the vacuum pressure
switch might seem abnormal, but after getting the feel
of it, you will figure out its trigger timing. The vacuum
pressure switch does not trigger at a specific RPM, but
rather triggers at a specific boost, which you control
with the gas pedal. You must let your foot off the gas,
after the set vacuum pressure level, in order to hear the
blow off valve sound. If you choose not to use the vacuum
pressure switch, connect the blue wires to the supplied
pushbutton switch. By connecting the blue wires to the
pushbutton switch, you will be able to mually trigger the
SUNAMI to make the blow off valve sound. You may also connect
both the vacuum pressure switch and the pushbutton switch
to the blue wires. Install the pushbutton switch inside
the vehicle where it is easily accessible.
10) Use electrical tape to clean up the wires going to
the engine compartment. Make sure all wires are clear before
closing hood.
11) Cut the two yellow wires, but leave six inches
on the wire loom. These wires will be used in the future
for
plug-ins. Clean up the wires near the gas/brake pedal
area by the driver’s seat and use one of the
supplied Zip-ties to hold the wires in a bundle. Set
your desired
volume by using a small flat screwdriver. The hole
for the volume control is located on the side of the
black
box, closest to the wire loom. The SUNAMI is pre-set
at its maximum volume from the factory, but you may
choose
to decrease the volume by turning the volume screw
counterclockwise. Remember, we are simulating the sound
of a blow off valve
electronically; therefore, the SUNAMI will sound
better at a lower volume. Stand outside and have somebody
drive
your car in front of you before assuming that the
sound is not loud enough. Also, make sure the sirens
are pointing
downward.
12) Use another Zip-tie to secure the black box above
the driver side footboard. Make sure the Zip-tie
goes through the tab hole on the black box and around
a wire loom or
other solid object in order to ensure its’ security.
Start your engine and enjoy!
